Bungoma County Government
Specific duties and responsibilities include:
a) Providing Technical advice on all Tourism related matters and Promotion of tourism within the County;
b) Formulating, coordinating, Implementing and reviewing tourism development policies, strategies and procedures;
c] Coordinating development programmes in the tourism sector;
d) Carrying out tourism education, awareness and training;
e) Offering advisory and extension services to the tourism sector;
f) Enforcement of compliance with the tourism legislation;
g) Carrying out tourism research and development;
h) Monitoring performance on growth and development of the tourism sector within the County and Implementing departmental performance contracts, appraisal systems;
I) Development of by — laws and ensuring that they are In conformity with the Environmental Management and Coordination Act (EMCA)1999;
J) Liaising with other Departments’ staff in drafting of legal documents; k) Managing programs and projects and
I) Validating technical reports.
m) Responsible for development and updating of an Environmental database.
Requirement for Appointment For appointment to this grade, an officer must:
a) Have at least ten (10) years relevant work experience three (3) years of which should be in the grade of Assistant Director Tourism/ Assistant Director Environment JG ‘P” and above or in a comparable and relevant position either in the Public Service or Private sector;
b) Have a Bachelor’s degree in either tourism or Environment related field from a recognized institution; c) Have a Master’s Degree in Tourism or Environment related fields from a recognized institution;
d) Attended a Strategic Leadership Development Course lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized Institution and
e) Have demonstrated professional, technical and administrative competency as reflected in work performance and results.
