KPMG is seeking a dynamic individual to take on a Project Manager, West Africa, Mastercard Foundation Fund for Rural Prosperity The role will be based in KPMG Office in Accra, Ghana, with extensive travel to other parts of the West African region. The role is a fixed term appointment tied to the FRP programme
Assessment of project concept notes and preparation of business plans, as well as preparing responses to successful and non-successful applicants.
Visit applicant businesses to carry out basic due diligence, discuss their business ideas, and ensure their business plans are high quality
Undertake project site visits as instructed by the FRP Team Leader on a periodic basis and ensure they meet their targets, report progress and ensure they are transparent in the use and reporting of FRP funds.
Quality assure the outcome and progress indicators (baselines and targets) developed by the participants, in collaboration with the FRP M&E Manager and FRP Learning Partner.
Monitor FRP-funded projects in West Africa on a periodic basis and ensure these projects meet their targets, report progress as agreed, and are transparent in the use and reporting of FRP funds.
Monitor and report on project and portfolio risks.
Become familiar with the FRP’s project selection criteria and assist potential applicants to understand these criteria.
Qualifications and experience
Minimum 7 years’ experience in the financial sector, focused on SME and agricultural financing with five of these years in the private sector. Special experience working in the agricultural sector and/or knowledge of agricultural of agricultural e.g. agricultural economics, agribusiness management.
Graduate/Masters qualification in Business Administration, Economics, Development Studies or Agricultural Economics
Understanding of rural, digital and financial markets in Africa
Strong analytical skills and ability to communicate ideas clearly and confidently, articulate issues and recommend solutions
Persuasive writing, high-level of English and French proficiency, proven ability to prepare proposals, concept papers and reports
Understanding of the operations of international development partners
Willingness to travel regularly within the region and to other KPMG offices in the region
