Job Description

The Kenyatta International Convention Centre is established as a State Corporation under the Tourism Act 2011 to discharge the following mandates:

Organize and host meetings and provide incentives for conferences and exhibitions at the Convention Centre.
Develop and implement National Meetings, Incentives for Conferences and Exhibitions, in collaboration with the Tourism Board upon consultation with the relevant stakeholders.
Market the Convention Centre, in collaboration with the Tourism Board.
Perform any other functions that are ancillary to the objectives and purpose for which the Convention Centre is established.

KICC is in the process of recruiting suitable person and invites applications for the following post:


The Marketing Manager reports to the Director Business Development Services and is responsible for marketing the convention centre.


Initiating the development of pricing and marketing policies, strategies and programs
Implementing pricing and marketing policies, strategies and programs
Undertaking market research to inform product design and market segmentation.
Monitoring sales trends to inform marketing strategy.
Selecting products and accessories to be displayed at trade or special production shows.
Ensuring intellectual property protection for all marketing and promotional innovations.
Coordinating and participating in promotional activities and trade shows, working with developers, advertisers, and production managers, to market products and services.
Advising business and other groups on local, national, and international factors affecting the buying and selling of products and services.
Initiating market surveys and research studies and disseminate their findings.
Ensuring corporate branding in all Marketing shows both locally and internationally is upheld.

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:-

Have a minimum period eight (8) years relevant work experience, three (3) of which should have been at a level of principal marketing officer;
Have a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following: – Marketing, Tourism Management, Commerce (Marketing Option), Business Administration or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
Have a Master’s Degree from a recognized institution.
Be a registered member of a relevant professional body.
Have a certificate in Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
Be proficient in computer applications.
Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution


Applicants must comply with Chapter 6 of the Constitution and avail clearance certificates from:

Directorate of Criminal Investigation (certificate of good conduct)
Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) – Tax Compliance
Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)

The successful candidate’s appointment will be as follows:-

Job Grade KICC2 shall be appointed on a contract of five (5) years renewable once subject to performance
Job Grade KICC 3 shall be appointed on a contract of five (5) years renewable subject to performance.
Job Grade KICC 4, Job Grade KICC 5, Job Grade KICC 6 and Job Grade KICC 7 shall be appointed on permanent and pensionable terms
