(3) CHIEF SECURITY OFFICER – SCALE 12(1 POSITION) –MU/ADM/03/06/2018

Job Description

The Chief Security Officer will be in charge of the Department of Security and Safety, in overall management, direction, control and co-ordination of Security Operations at the University. Specifically, duties and responsibilities will involve liaising with Police on security matters and following up court cases; ensuring effective security is maintained for the protection of university property, staff and students. Other duties will involve co-ordination of training and development of staff in the Department.

Qualifications for Chief Security officer (Grade 12)

For direct appointment to this Grade an officer must have:-

(i) a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology and Social Order, Political Science, Social Science, Law, Security Studies or in a related field from a recognized University;

(ii) a Masters degree will be an added advantage

(iii) must have held a Senior Position in a Security Firm or captain in the Armed forces/Disciplined Forces or equivalent with not less than 5 years experience;

(iv) must have trained in Investigation, Security Management, and Emergency Preparedness. Those who have worked in institution of Higher Learning will have an added advantage.

Qualifications for Serving Chief Security Officer

For Appointment to this Grade an Officer must have:-

(i) Served in the Grade of Deputy Chief Security Officer for a period of three (3) years;

(ii) Demonstrated competence and administrative ability in running security and safety services.

(iii) Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice.

Also the officer at this Grade must meet the provisions of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya by providing relevant certificates from the following bodies:-

– Kenya Revenue Authority

– Higher Education Loans Board

– Criminal Investigations Department

– Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission

– Credit Reference Bureau

– Relevant professional body

SALARY SCALE

University Architect – Scale 14 (xiv) – Min of Ksh.170, 681/= p.m. – Max of Ksh.189,813/= p.m.

Chief Flight Instructor – Scale 13 (xiii) – Min of Kshs. 106,327/= pm – Max Kshs. 149,940/= p.m. Chief Security officer – Scale 12 (xii) – Min of Kshs.94, 347/= p.m. – Max of Kshs. – 131,736/=p.m.

Flight Instructor- Scale 12 (xii) – Min of Kshs.94, 347/= p.m. – Max of Kshs. 131,736/=p.m.

Fire Officer – Scale 9 (xi) – Min of Ksh.94, 347/= p.m. – Max of Kshs. 131,736/=p.m.
