Summary of the role
Reporting to the CFO, the payables accountant will have an overall responsibility of ensuring that payments are captured and processed accurately and timely. They will lead in ensuring that the supplier ledger is fully reconciled at all times and that payments are made in a timely manner.
a) Preparation of payment vouchers ensuring that all the payments are fully supported with documentation and proper review and authorization.
b) Carry out supplier reconciliation ensuring that the supplier ledger is fully up to date always.
c) Responsible for filing and payment of the monthly statutory returns including NHIF, NSSF, PAYE and WHT.
d) Book and post supplier and payment transactions in the accounting system (Microsoft Dynamics Nav) and following the laid-out dimensions for posting transactions.
e) Ensure proper filing system of the payment vouchers and other documents is maintained always.
f) Follow up on employee field advance payments to ensure proper accountability.
g) Other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

e) At least four years of experience working as a payables accountant in a finance department with sizeable number of payments’ processing.
f) Conversant with proper month end procedures that ensure timely closing of books.
a) A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
b) Certified Public Accountant (CPA). At least Section IV
Note: Candidates with experience using Microsoft Dynamics Navision accounting system will have an added advantage.
