JUDICIAL PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT (JPIP) CREDIT No. 5181-KE, PROJECT ID 105269

REQUEST FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST INDIVIDUAL CONSULTANTS

The Government of Kenya has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Judicial Performance Improvement Project (JPIP), being implemented by the Judiciary of the Republic of Kenya and intends to apply part of the proceeds toward payments under Consulting Services.

The consulting Services of Individual Consultants as listed below will be for a period of two years renewable annually based on need, performance and budget. The Terms of Reference for Individual Consultants can be obtained from the Judiciary Website at the following link www.judiciary.go.ke/tenders

TERMS OF REFERENCE

2. QUANTITY SURVEYOR – 4

The Quantity Surveyor will assist the Senior Quantity Surveyor in the following tasks:

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

i. Assist in management of the Section, ensuring all staff carry out their work efficiently, including ensuring that proper contracts and tendering procedures are followed within Judiciary.

ii. Preparation of cost analysis and estimates of proposed new and rehabilitation/maintenance constructions.

iii. Preparation of tender documents (including Bills of Quantities), valuation of construction works and advising on contractual matters.

iv. Maintaining a register of contractors and consultants, including their qualifications and profiles.

v. Maintaining files for construction and consultant contracts.

vi. Supervise the work of staff in the Quantity Surveying Section, including private consultants engaged by the Directorate.

Qualifications and Experience

The candidate must have:-

a) A degree in either Building Economics, or Building Management, or Procurement or Supply Chains Management.

b) Registration as a Quantity Surveyor with a relevant professional body.

c) A minimum of 3 Years post-graduation and 1 year post registration experience will be required.

d) Experience in coordinating the work Quantity Surveying, preparation of cost estimates, tender documents, valuation certificates of new buildings and rehabilitation/maintenance construction contracts works, and supervising personnel responsible for such work, including private consultants.

e) Good communication and Project Management Skills

f) Computer technical skills (these would include, MS Word, Excel, MS Project etc.)

g) Interpersonal skills and experience in leading and working in teams

h) Experience in working in World Bank funded infrastructure projects will be an added advantage

The Judiciary now invites eligible individuals to express their interest in providing the services. Interested Consultants should provide information demonstrating that they have the required qualifications, capacity and relevant experience to perform the services.

Applications for the Architects and Engineers posts must include colour attachments of their Project Portfolios.
