Job Description

The Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA) is a State Corporation under the Ministry of Education established under the TVET Act of 2013. The mandate of the Authority is to promote quality access, equity and relevance in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) by developing standards, inspecting, registering and licensing trainers, institutions and training programmes.

20. Internal Auditor I – Grade TVETA 5

Vacancy No. TVETA/20/JUN. 2018: Number of Posts: One (1)

Basic Salary Scale: Kshs. 81,000 – 108,000 pm

(a) Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Senior Internal Auditor, the Internal Auditor I will be responsible for the following:

(i) Developing audit programs and testing procedures relevant to the risk and test objectives of assigned assignments

(ii) Conducting audits on operational procedures, systems, practices and records to ensure conformity with laws, regulations and policies

(iii) Tracking the Implementation of audit report findings and recommendations

(iv) Preparing audit reports for assignments undertaken

(v) Conducting reviews to ensure risk mitigation measures are developed and implemented

(vi) Preparing Board Papers for Board meeting discussion

(vii) Liaising with external auditors on external audits assignment

(viii) Providing support on the implementation of risk management strategy, policy and framework;

(ix) Conducting risk assessments to determine the risk profile of the Authority in terms of investments, actuarial, legal compliance, monitoring and evaluation and financial management functions;

(b) Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, one must have: –

(i) Served for a minimum period of six (6) years as an Internal Auditor in the public service/private sector or in an equivalent and relevant position;

(ii) A bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Finance, Business Management or any other related field from a university recognized in Kenya

(iii) Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution.

(iv) Attended a senior management course lasting not less than 4 weeks from a recognized institution

(v) Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Final

(vi) Valid professional membership i.e., membership with Institute of Internal Auditors or ICPAK and be in good professional standing.
