The Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA) is a State Corporation under the Ministry of Education established under the TVET Act of 2013. The mandate of the Authority is to promote quality access, equity and relevance in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) by developing standards, inspecting, registering and licensing trainers, institutions and training programmes.
25. Senior Internal Auditor – Grade TVETA 4

Basic Salary Scale: Kshs. 96,300 – 127,800 pm
(a) Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager, Internal Audit, the Senior Internal Auditor will be responsible for the following:
(i) Reviewing and evaluating budgetary performance, financial management, transparency and accountability mechanism and processes in the Authority
(ii) Reviewing the effectiveness of the financial and non- financial performance managements systems of the Authority
(iii) Ensuring adherence at all times to all applicable professional standards;
(iv) Communicating assigned tasks to engagement team in a manner that is clear and concise ensuring high quality, accurate, and efficient results;
(v) Providing reports to the Audit and Risk Committee on the risk status, profile and recommendations.
(vi) Reviewing and maintaining the enterprise-wide risk management strategy, policy and framework as approved by the Audit and Risk Committee;
(vii) Providing advice and support on the implementation of risk management strategy, policy and framework;
(viii) Integrating the risk management process to the strategic objectives and business plans of the Authority;
(ix) Conducting risk assessments to determine the risk profile of the Authority in terms of investments, actuarial, legal compliance, monitoring and evaluation and financial management functions;
(x) Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the Authority’s risk management system;
(b) Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: –
(i) Served for a minimum period of six (6) years as an Internal Auditor in the public service/private sector with at least 3 years in the senior management level or in any other relevant and equivalent position.
(ii) A bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Finance, Business Management or any other related field from a university recognized in Kenya
(iii) A Master’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Finance, Business Management or any other related field from a university recognized in Kenya
(iv) Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution.
(v) Attended a senior management course lasting not less than 4 weeks from a recognized institution
(vi) Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Final
(vii) Proficiency in computer applications
(viii) Valid professional membership i.e., membership with Institute of Internal Auditors or ICPAK and be in good professional standing.
