Job Description

The Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA) is a State Corporation under the Ministry of Education established under the TVET Act of 2013. The mandate of the Authority is to promote quality access, equity and relevance in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) by developing standards, inspecting, registering and licensing trainers, institutions and training programmes.

19. Supply Chain Management Officer I-Grade TVETA 5

Vacancy No. TVETA/19/JUN. 2018: Number of Posts: One (1)

Basic Salary Scale: Kshs. 81,000 – 108,000 pm

(a) Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Senior Supply Chain Management Officer, the Supply Chain Management Officer I will be responsible for the following:

(i) Preparing tenders for advertisement, opening and evaluation;

(ii) Participating in the tender evaluation committee meetings and preparing evaluation reports and discussion papers

(iii) Implementing the tender and procurement committee’s decisions

(iv) Raising and processing purchase/service orders

(v) Providing contract management services to various user departments to ensure implementation of contracts in accordance with the terms and conditions of the contracts;

(vi) Ensuring procurement documents and records are maintained, safeguarded and archived as required by the law

(vii) Implementing public procurement regulations, policies, and laws;

(viii) Preparing and submitting to the PPOA quarterly procurement reports as required;

(b) Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: –

(i) Served as a Supply Chain Management Officer in the public service/private sector for a minimum period of six (6) years or in an equivalent and relevant position;

(ii) A bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Economics, Business Administration, Finance, Supplies Management, Marketing or any other related field from a university recognized in Kenya

(iii) Post graduate diploma in Supplies Management

(iv) Attended a senior management course lasting not less than 4 weeks from a recognized institution

(v) Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution.

(vi) Valid membership with Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM) and be in good professional standing
